Join us for a book event at the Seminary Co-op for Ukraine Is Not Dead Yet: A Family Story of Exile and Return with Point writer Megan Buskey. Buskey, whose mother grew up in a gulag exile settlement after her grandparents were deported from their Ukrainian village to Siberia after World War II, excavates the gnarled history of Ukraine through her family story. Buskey demonstrates how controversial and painful aspects of Ukrainian history, such as Nazi collaboration, the rise and persistence of Ukrainian nationalism, and the country’s enduring struggle with its powerful neighbor, Russia, are key to understanding the country today—as well as the roots of the Russian invasion that more than a year on continues to transfix the world. Megan will give a talk about her book, followed by a Q&A and book signing.
About the author: Megan Buskey has written about Ukrainian politics, culture, and history for The Atlantic, The Point, n+1, The Virginia Quarterly Review, and other outlets. An alumna of the University of Chicago and former Fulbright Fellow, she has been studying and writing about Ukraine for twenty years. She lives in New York City.
Accessibility: The event will be fully wheelchair accessible.
