What is the fate of the humanities? Join us for a conversation with Chad Wellmon, professor of German studies and history at the University of Virginia, on his new book Permanent Crisis: The Humanities in a Disenchanted Age and his recent essay for The Point, “Degrees of Anxiety.” Together we will examine why the humanities have been in perpetual crisis and we will explore the future of humanistic education, amid rapid technological and economic change. We will also discuss how the University of Chicago is expanding humanities education for adult learners in this moment.
