Is a literary career possible today? At our issue 26 Afterthoughts event, contributors Apoorva Tadepalli (author of the essay “Careerism”) and Rosemarie Ho (author of the short story “On Equanimity”) will join Point literary editor John Michael Colón in a discussion of these questions and more. Their contributions give a view into the two main paths to a writing career nowadays: small magazines and the academy. Given the constraints of both paths—whether intellectual or moral—how can young writers keep themselves from giving in to despair or, what may be even worse, from becoming entangled in cynical status games?
Afterthoughts—an experiment in Zoom literary community—gives readers an intimate look at each new issue shortly after it comes out and a chance to talk about it with a few of the editors and writers who contributed. Register using the form below to receive the Zoom link and bring your questions and thoughts for the open Q&A!
