We’re delighted to announce that a generous funder will be matching any donation we receive this summer dollar for dollar, up to $30,000. This is where you come in. The Point needs your help.
2018 has been a very successful year for the magazine: our subscriber base has grown by nearly 40%, website visits are up 30%, and our new issue started a vital conversation about the role of the intellectual in American life (get one before it sells out!). But due to a combination of factors—including the cost of a mandatory website upgrade and a more ambitious publishing schedule this year—we need your help now to keep The Point financially stable and in a position to grow. Without your support, we may not be able to continue compensating all of our brilliant, talented and criminally overworked editors and writers.
Luckily, a generous funder has announced that they will help us meet our current challenge, and put us on better footing for the future, by matching any donation we receive this summer dollar for dollar, up to $30,000. That means any tax-deductible donation you make this summer will have double the impact, allowing The Point to continue reaching new readers and adding to its archive of award-winning writing on contemporary life and culture.
We’ve never believed more than we do today in the importance of The Point’s mission: to maintain a public space for the thoughtful exchange of ideas, and to help our readers live more examined lives. That mission, however, has never been a lucrative one (Socrates couldn’t even afford shoes), and The Point will continue to exist only so long as there remains a community that is willing to support it. We hope you’ll join us in this project—and to help ensure it continues to thrive—today.
